Does Penis Enlargement Surgery Worth Risks?
Trustworthy experts agree that penile lengthening and girth enhancement surgeries are not a good idea in all but the rarest of cases. There is no dependable evidence that the surgeries are efficient. The risk that the surgeries will in fact reduce sexual performance and satisfaction is significant.
Penile lengthening is frequently attempted by cutting the suspensory ligament then pulling the skin of a V-shaped incision down and sewing it back into a Y-shaped configuration. This gives only the look of a longer penis when flaccid, without any functional lengthening. Girth enhancement is frequently obtained by removing fat from other parts of the body and injecting this fat into the penis. Injected fat often has a lumpy look and melts over time.
In relation to reputable urologists, you can be expecting little or no boost in penile length, and you may also meet complications. There are no scientifically rigorous, peer-reviewed reports to support claims of patient satisfaction or considerable increases in phallic length. Nor has the procedure itself even been well described in the scientific literature. At present, since insurance companies do not pay for the procedure and most of the operations are performed in an outpatient setting; little if any facts have been collected to help in calculating complication rates.
Even though penile lengthening for cosmetic purposes is medically insupportable, according to experts, there are legitimate medical reasons to attempt such a procedure, including trauma (such as from a car accident), a congenital deformity or spinal cord injuries where a patient may require extra length for catheterization. Reputable urologists will perform penile lengthening procedures under these circumstances.
The standard length of a stretched penis (when a flaccid penis is pulled) is 4.5 inches to 6.0 inches, and the average erect length is 5.07 inches to 6.1 inches. According to the medical research, performed at the Department of Urology, University of California at San Francisco School of Medicine by Dr. Hunter Wessells, only men with a flaccid length of less than 15 inches, or a stretched or erect length of less than 23 inches, are “abnormal” and should even be considered candidates for penile lengthening surgery.
